Compassionate/Bereavement leave?

Hey, I was just wondering if theres a set amount of days that an emplyer HAS to give you off for compassionate leave (i.e. the death of an immediate family member). I know they can give you UP TO 5 days, but is there a minimum?

bereavement leave, does anyone no whats right and wrong?

At the beginning of the week my uncle passed away after loosing his fight against cancer, he was only 41! I asked at work if i could have the day off for his funeral next week and they said i might not be able to they want me to work all weekend and won’t give me the time to spend with my family. I have never dealt with death before and my heads not in the right place for going to work and caring for the residents (don’t want that to sound selfish)
Can anyone help me as I don’t no anything about bereavement leave or what your entitled to.
